Dallas Cowboys at Atlanta Falcons Preview and Predictions

Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys head to Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia this week. There, they’ll face Kirk Cousins and his Atlanta Falcons. This game will kick off at 1:00 p.m. ET and be available to watch on Fox. Let’s jump in and take a look at this Cowboys-Falcons preview.

The Dallas Cowboys come into this matchup with a losing record of just 3-4. They’ve lost two straight to San Francisco and Detroit and four of their last six with losses to Baltimore and New Orleans as well. Cowboys fans are getting restless as they tend to do and the questions abound about the future of Dak Prescott and Mike McCarthy. The Cowboys have a slew of players listed as did not practice on Monday leaving their availability for Sunday up in the air. Those players include Micah Parsons, Zack Martin, Trevon Diggs, Linval Joseph, and Daron Bland.

Atlanta is cruising along at 5-3 as they enter this Week 9 matchup. They are coming off a big win over their divisional rival the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Falcons are winners of four of their last five games, a Week 7 loss to Seattle the lone loss in that time span. The Falcons have a few of their own who did not practice on Wednesday. They include Ruke Orhororo, Chris Lindstrom, and JD Bertrand. Matthew Judon and Troy Anderson saw limited reps in practice.

Bijan Robinson Over 99.5 Rushing and Receiving Yards (-119)

The Dallas Cowboys rushing defense is bad. They rank 31 out of 32 teams in the league, allowing 154.6 yards per game on the ground. They’ve allowed some big games to running backs this season, both on the ground and through the air when the running back gets out in space. Third-string rookie running back Issac Guerendo came in when Jordan Mason was injured and torched the Cowboys for 85 on the ground and another 17 through the air.

Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery tag teamed them for 91 and 80 yards respectively. Even in a loss to Dallas, Najee Harris got a combined 77 yards. Derrick Henry ran for 182 yards and added 23 through the air.

Robinson has easily surpassed this number in the last three games as the Falcons’ offense has been clicking once Kirk Cousins has settled in. Bijan could reach this number quickly off of just a couple of big explosive plays. If Micah Parsons is once again not playing, that leaves a massive hole in this defense.

Atlanta Falcons -2 (-135)

Neither team is great against the spread this season, but Dallas is just 2-5 through seven games played ATS. Atlanta is an even 4-4 after their eight games played, I think they’ll move into a positive number after this game. Dallas just hasn’t been that good. They kept the score close against San Francisco but the game really wasn’t. The Lions and two-win Saints absolutely dismantled them. They could hardly beat the Giants. I have lost all faith in Dak, McCarthy, and the Cowboys.

Atlanta on the other side played three tough teams to open the season, keeping Pittsburgh and Kansas City close while beating Philadelphia. They stumbled against the Seahawks in a bad spot, but have taken care of business over the last five games. As Kirk Cousins and Raheem Morris have settled into their new home, things just keep getting better for Atlanta. You like that?!
