New York Jets at New England Patriots Preview and Predictions

Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams, and the New York Jets head to Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. There they’ll take on Drake Maye and the New England Patriots. It’ll be the second meeting for this team, but the first time there was no Devante Adams for the Jets and no Drake Maye for the Patriots. So, let’s dive in and take a look at this week’s Jets-Patriots preview and predictions.

The New York Jets are a disappointing 2-5 coming into this game, we all know the story of their season so far. Robert Saleh has been fired, and Davante Adams was traded to the team before last week’s game against Pittsburgh. It’s now or never for the Jets if they want to turn this season around and have any hope, because Aaron Rodgers isn’t getting any younger.

For the Patriots, it was Jacoby Brissett starting for them in Week 3 when these teams matched up. He was 12/18 for only 98 yards on the day. He’s since been replaced by the future in New England of Drake Maye, who’s shown promise, but also that the Patriots have deeper problems than quarterback. Rhmonadre Stevenson did practice in full on Thursday, after limited practice for foot/personal reasons earlier in the week.

Davante Adams Over 5.5 Receptions (+105)

There’s not a lot of things to love in this game, but this one immediately jumps out to me. Adams only had three catches last week in his first game for the Jets on a short week. He was targeted a staggering nine times in the game though. He’s Aaron’s boy, they wanted to be together again and Aaron is going to keep hyper-targeting him as they rekindle their old love for each other.

Game Total Under 41.5 (-115)

There’s no reason to sugarcoat this one. Neither of these teams has been very good this season. Yes, Adams and Maye weren’t in the equation when the teams combined for 27 points in Week 3, but I’m not convinced those two are bringing another 15 points to this game.

It’s going to be an ugly, old-school game of grind it out and punt a lot-football. The scores, especially touchdowns will be few and far between, and the under in this game shouldn’t make you sweat too much.
