The Los Angeles Chargers secured the 22-10 win in Week 1 in Jim Harbaugh’s first game as the Chargers head coach. The Carolina Panthers suffered a beat down in the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. Losing to the division rival Saints 47-10. These two teams will square off at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte on Sunday, September 15th at 1:00 p.m. ET on CBS. Let’s take a look at the Chargers at Panthers predictions.
There were a lot of questions around the Chargers offense heading into Week 1, and they answered them. J.K. Dobbins is their main man in the backfield rushing for 135 yards on just 10 carries while also grabbing three receptions. Now he’ll face a Panther defense that gave up 180 yards on the ground in Week 1. Rookie wide receiver Ladd McConkey led the team with five catches and his first touchdown catch.
Unfortunately for Panthers fans, the Panthers, and specifically Bryce Young looked a lot like the 2023 version of the team, which isn’t a good thing. Young’s first pass attempt of the season was picked off on the Panthers’ first play on offense. His day didn’t get much better from there, completing just 13 of his 30 pass attempts, throwing two interceptions in total, and getting sacked four times.
Los Angeles Chargers at Carolina Panthers Predictions
J.K. Dobbins Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+150) & 2+ Touchdowns (+1100)
Here’s the deal, this Carolina Panthers defense is straight-up garbage, and their offense may be even worse. We all saw what the New Orleans Saints were able to do against them last week. Now you bring in a hard nose grind it out Jim Harbaugh, he’s going to want to stuff this ball so far down the Panthers’ throat that well we’ll leave it to your imagination.
The Raiders defense with the toughness of Antonio Pierce leading them had nothing for Dobbins last week and the Panthers won’t this week. He’ll get plenty of looks, and there’s a good chance Bryce Young turns the ball over giving Los Angeles great field position, possibly multiple times. Dobbins should see plenty of opportunities to score on Sunday.
Los Angeles Chargers -4.5 (-128)
The Carolina Panthers lost last week to Dennis Allen and Derek Carr in the division, by 37 points. Yes this is the NFL and teams should be able to bounce back and be competitive week to week. However, this Carolina team just looked lethargic in Week 1. Until there are some signs of life spotted in Charlotte. I have more faith in Jim Harbaugh and Justin Herbert than I had in Dennis Allen and Derek Carr.
