Joey Logano snagged the win to open the NASCAR playoffs last week, locking himself into the round of 12 action that will start with Kansas Speedway in two weeks. 15 other playoff drivers will hope to win this week, so they don’t have to worry about getting knocked out at Bristol next week.

NASCAR Picks, Odds, and Best Bets: Go Bowling at The Glen at Watkins Glen International
Chris Buescher Top 10 Finish (+220)
It’s insane that this line is even being offered on Chris Buescher. The regular season didn’t end how he would have liked and he missed the playoffs, but that doesn’t take away from the fact he is a stout road course racer, especially in the NextGen era.
Buescher has finished in the top 11 in 12 straight road course races, 11 of those being inside of the top 10. In both NextGen races at Watkins Glen, Buescher has finished top 10 with ninth and seventh-place finishes. These would all be great stats even at a lower number, but at +220 this is a great deal.
William Byron Top 5 (+100)
Byron absolutely dominated at Watkins Glen in 2023 leading 66 laps and crushing to victory. In 2022’s Xfinity Series race, Byron led 35 laps trading blows with Ty Gibbs in the closing laps before they took each other out. The point is, that Byron has been good at this track.
Byron has two wins and a second-place finish over the last four Cup Series races on road courses. A strong resume for a driver looking to secure his way into the next round of the playoffs. A top-five run at Watkins Glen would help his case a ton. At 9/1 he’s also well worth placing a bet on to win the race.

Ty Gibbs Over Michael McDowell (-125)
Ty Gibbs has been a stud on road courses since his first start in the Xfinity Series where he went out and won at the Daytona Road Course. In the last four Cup Series starts on road courses, Gibbs has three top-five finishes including a strong fifth-place run here last year. If you want to include the Chicago Street Course race (which I don’t when I reference road course races) Gibbs also scored a third-place finish there.
Michael McDowell on the other hand can pop at times on a road course race, with a win last year at the Indianapolis Road Course and second place finish at Sonoma earlier this year. But over the last five road course races, he’s also got three finishes worse than 32 places.
In five of the last eight road courses head-to-head Gibbs has gained the advantage and beaten McDowell straight up. Last year it wasn’t even close with Gibbs coming home fifth and McDowell in 36th. Gibbs is a playoff diver with everything to race for, McDowell is a lame duck driver leaving Ford for a Chevy racing team next year and likely isn’t getting all the information Ford has to offer. Give me the young Gibbs in this one.
Kyle Larson to Win (+750)
It’s a chalky week for me, Larson and his teammate Byron are the only outrights I’m on. They are two of the three favorites which is usually not my style of betting, but at these numbers FanDuel is offering they are too good to pass up on. The two drivers have won the last three races combined here with Larson winning in both 2021 and 2022.
Larson also won the aforementioned Xfinity Series race here in 2022 and won earlier this season at Sonoma Raceway. We faded Larson hardcore last week and he cashed big wrecking yet again at a drafting track, but he earns sweet redemption this week winning us money in the opposite direction by winning the race!
