2024 Circa Survivor Contest – Six Weeks of NFL Survivor Picks

There are a few notables as far as strategy is concerned. With Thanksgiving and Black Friday counting as their own week, along with Christmas Day and December 26th counting as an additional week, you’ll want to consider the teams you’d pick those weeks if you make it that far and try not to burn them beforehand. Neither of these “weeks” are very easy to pick, especially this far ahead.

The Cowboys at home vs the Giants are the team I’ll be reserving for Thanksgiving. For Christmas, give me the Chiefs at the Steelers, I’m not deeply in love with this pick, but it seems to be the best pick for what’s available, the Bears over the Seahawks could be in consideration as well.

Week 1 Survivor Pick – New Orleans Saints

Let’s roll the dice early. The popular Week 1 pick is going to be the Cincinnati Bengals, who are 9.0-point favorites over the New England Patriots. Sometimes chalk is okay, but let’s be different if we can. The Saints are taking on the Carolina Panthers at home in the comfort of the Caesars Superdome.

The Panthers are heading into year two of a Bryce Young experiment that hasn’t gone well so far. The Saints have beaten the Panthers in nine of their last 12 matchups. Derek Carr and company are coming off a solid 9-8 record in 2023.

Week 2 Survivor Pick – Baltimore Ravens

The Las Vegas Raiders head to Baltimore in Week 2, where they are projected to be the biggest underdog of the week. This one likely will be the chalky pick of the week, but that’s okay.

The Ravens are one of the best teams in the league and are led by reigning MVP Lamar Jackson. The Raiders are a project that may start either Gardner Minshew or Aiden O’Connell at quarterback.

Week 3 Survivor Pick – Cincinnati Bengals

We didn’t have to wait long. Everyone else used them in Week 1, and we turned around and had them available in Week 3. The Washington Commanders and rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels come to Paul Brown Stadium to visit Joe Burrow and the Bengals.

The look ahead to this one has the Bengals at 7.0 favorites. Daniels has a lot of upside to be a good quarterback, but how soon will that happen? The team around him needs more time to improve. Give me Stogie Joe.

Week 4 Survivor Pick – Detroit Lions

This is another week to get different. The 49ers will be a popular pick as 11.5-point favorites over New England. They’d be a fine pick for this week, but so would the Lions. Dan Campbell is going to have this team firing on all cylinders by Week 4.

The Seahawks are still adjusting to a new head coach, and their quarterback could be Geno Smith or Sam Howell at this point. They’ll go into a loud dome of excited Detroit fans and have difficulty keeping up with Detroit’s high-flying offense.

Week 5 Survivor Pick – Cleveland Browns

Another possible week to use San Francisco here as 9.5-point favorites against Arizona. Let’s keep them in our back pocket for now, though. I’m all for fading the Raiders and their new coaching staff and lack of quarterback play.

This will depend on how Cleveland looks at this point in the season, but if they can be half of what they were with Joe Flacco under center last year, they should be able to take care of business here.

Week 6 Survivor Pick – Atlanta Falcons

Hopefully, by this point in the season, Kirk Cousins has established himself as the quarterback we all know he can be. The Carolina Panthers come to town to take on Cousins and his Falcons. This is another lopsided divisional opponent for the Panthers.

The Falcons have won 11 of the last 15 matchups between the teams. The look-ahead number has the Falcons at 3.5 favorites.
