Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – June 28
Freddie Freeman – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases
Freeman has been on a nice run as of late. He has a four game hit streak and beat this projection in every single one of those games. He has one multi-hit game in there and three with an extra-base hit. However, even more than his recent run, I love his history with Logan Webb – who starts for the Giants on Friday. He’s 15-for-31 (.484) on his career with a .677 slugging percentage. I’m counting on that success carrying over to Friday.
Christopher Sanchez – Lower than 5.0 Strikeouts
Sanchez has a lot of buzz behind him right now, and for good reason. He’s been great for the Phillies with a 2.67 ERA and they rewarded him with a contract extention. However, he hasn’t beat this strikeout projection all month. He managed to get above this number twice last month, but the trajectory has been downward. To add to that, the Marlins may not be an offense that scares people, but they are good at limiting the strikeouts. They are 11th in the league in that category and are even better at home. I expect a good outing here for Sanchez, just not one with a ton of strikeouts.
Bryan Reynolds – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases
Reynolds has extended his hit streak to an impressive 23 games. In thatg time, he’s hitting .351 with a .638 slugging percentage. He’s seeing the ball extremely well lately and is getting a pitcher he’s had success against. While he’s only faced Charlie Morton three times in his career, he does have two extra-base hits against him. – a double and a dinger. I don’t see Morton as being the guy to limit him and that should get us this projection.
