2024 Tour de France Odds and Best Bets

The big storyline going into the event is the battle between Slovenian Tadej Pogačar and Jonas Vingegaard of Denmark, the defending champion. These two riders have won the last four Tour de France, and one hopes to break that tie and claim their third yellow jersey in the event. The 2024 Tour de France consists of 176 riders across 22 teams, with three Americans competing.

Adam Yates to finish in the Top 3 (+300)

Yates, the British rider for UAE Team Emirates, won stage one in the 2023 Tour de France on his way to a third overall finish, beating his twin brother by a single position. Yates has been a top 10 rider in his last two Tour de France races and scored a fourth-place finish in 2014.

Yates is fresh off winning the 2024 Tour de Suisse and, earlier this year, won the Tour of Oman. During the Tour de Suisse showed off his mega-climber skills which will come into use during this tough Tour de France course.

It’ll be hard to bet an outright winner this year due to the odds, but Yates is worth a little sprinkle at 25/1 if we think he’s going to be in the running at the end.

King of the Mountains Giulio Ciccone (+400)

It’s tempting here to take the heavy favorite to win the race in Pogačar at a decent price of 4/1. In two of the last three seasons, the overall winner has won both that yellow jacket and the polka dot jersey for King of the Mountain.

However, last year, Giulio Ciccone made a concerted effort to claim the King of the Mountain. He’s back to defend that title and take home another polka dot jersey this year.

Pogačar, of course, wants to win this like he did in 2020 and 2021, but he has to keep the big picture of the entire Tour in mind. I’ll take 4/1 on a guy who specializes and knows this is his to win, like he did last year.

Matteo Jorgenson Top 10 Finish (-120)

The young American rider will be making his third Tour de France start. The 24-year-old Idahoian has joined a new team this year in UCI WorldTeam Visma-Lease a Bike. He finished 20th in his first start in 2020 and had a DFN last year.

Jorgenson arrives this year fresh off second overall at Citérium du Dauphiné, where he won the white jersey for the first young rider classification.

Jorgenson claimed the yellow Jersey earlier this year at Paris-Nice and also won the Dwars door Vlaanderen. Look for him to be in the top 10 when it’s all said and done.

Magnus Cort Nielsen Stage 1 Winner (+2000)

Cort may just be the best stage hunter in cycling. The 31-year-old Danish cyclist has twice won stages in the Tour de France. After winning a stage last year at the Giro d’Italia, he’s now won stages in all three grand tours.

Cort joined team Uno-X Mobility over the off-season with the goal of winning not only stages in the Tour de France but specifically the first stage.

It’s the same thought process here as with Ciccone in King of the Mountain. Grab the specialist whose entire goal is to win these specific awards.
