UFL Championship Picks, Predictions, and Best Bets

Birmingham Stallions (-3) Vs San Antonio Brahmas, Total: 42

Nobody is surprised that the Birmingham Stallions are playing in the championship game. Sure, they didn’t pull off the undefeated season. Yes, the last few weeks looked like they were a bit more of a struggle than the domination at the beginning of the year. However, they’re still the team that has won back-to-back USFL Championships, and now they look to win their first UFL Championship.

Skip Holtz had this team rolling all year. Whether Matt Corrall or Adrian Martinez was the quarterback, he was able to coach maximum production out of his players. They ran the ball well, passed the ball well, and played good defense. This team was one of the most dominant, scoring 26 points per game.

Adrian Martinez didn’t start until almost halfway through the season but still led the league in rushing. He also led the team in passing, rushing, and touchdowns. This is the team to beat, and there’s a reason they come in as a favorite.

Almost everybody is surprised that the San Antonio Brahmas are playing in the championship game. Yes, they had a good record this season. However, they never felt like a dominant team, at least on offense. They struggled with Garbers getting hurt and Quentin Dormady coming in. However, they still pulled together wins when it counted.

While the offense left a little bit to be desired, the defense was superb. This isn’t to discredit what guys like Jontre Kirklin were able to do. However, on offense, they just didn’t dominate. They averaged only 18.5 points per game and 296.5 total yards per game (compared to Stallions’ 347.3).

The defense, however, got stronger as the season went on. They held opponents to an average of 15.1 points per game (compared to the Stallions’ 17.8). They swarmed and overwhelmed the Battlehawks, and their next test will be the Stallions.

I can’t bring myself to change a horse midstream. I’ve been on the Stallions all year. They’re the best team in the league, and until otherwise, you can’t fade them. Wade Phillips has done an incredible job with what he has, but the Stallions are just a more talented team.

UFL Playoff Best Bet:  Stallions (-3) ($5,000), Under ($5,000)
