Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – June 6

Ryan Mountcastle – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases

Mountcastle had been on a tear lately. In his last five games, he’s hit four homers and tallied nine RBI. He’s slugging 1.034 in the month of June so far. Things should only get better for him today as he faces Yusei Kikuchi. In his career, Mountcastle has seen Kikuchi 21 times. He has eight hits to go along with four walks in that span (.471 batting average). Five of those hits are extra-base hits, and four of them are homers. That means he’s hitting home runs off of him at better than a 19% clip.

Juan Soto – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases

Soto may not be quite as hot as Mountcastle right now, but he’s been pretty good as of late. He has four hits and two homers over his last three games, and that’s with walking four times. Really, the only obstacle I see to him meeting this projection is walking too much. The obstacle certainly won’t be Pablo Lopez. He’s 10-for-30 against him lifetime (.333 batting average). Of those ten hits, Soto has six extra-base hits, including three homers. That means he could very well clear this projection with one swing.

Jose Ramirez – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases

We might as well stick with the theme of hot batters with good matchups on Thursday. He’s cleared this projection in nine of his last 13 games, many with multiple hits. He has plenty of games with multiple hits against Brady Singer, who he will see on Thursday. He’s 10-for-23 career off of him (.435 batting average) and has also had plenty of extra-base hits in there as well. Those ten hits include two doubles and two home runs.
