Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – May 23
Alec Bohm – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases
Alec Bohm enters the game, hitting a robust .330. While that number is already stellar, like most right-handed batters, he gets a decent little jump when facing a lefty. He’ll get one today in the form of Andrew Heaney. Coming into this one, he’s had back-to-back days with a double, and he’s been over this mark in three straight. I expect him to put another extra-base hit on the board here.
Zack Short – Higher than 0.5 Total Bases
We’re doing it again! Zack Short has been great for the Braves in his short time with the club. He’s got a hit in two of the last three games and has picked up a base or better in better than half of his starts with the club. Austin Riley is starting to take batting practice again, which means Short needs a couple of good games here to hang as the extra infielder or risk being sent back to Gwinnett.
Joey Estes – Higher than 4.5 Hits Allowed
In his second start of the year, Estes was ripped for eight hits against the Astros. Now, you may think the Rockies are far from the offense they have in Houston, but they have some metrics that would say otherwise. The Astros are first in the majors in hits, but the Rockies are 9th and just 0.66 hits per game behind them. That gives me enough confidence that they’ll get to Estes here.
