Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – May 13
Adley Rutschman – Higher than 0.5 Singles
Rutschman gets a pitching matchup Monday that he’s sure to be salivating over. Jose Berrios has been good for the Blue Jays so far this year, with just a 2.35 ERA. However, that’s way up after getting shelled for eight earned runs last time out. Not only is that a good sign for the Orioles backstop, but his history with Berrios gives me even more confidence. He’s a career 10-for-16 against the Toronto righty with three extra-base hits.
Rhys Hoskins – Higher than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
Speaking of batters with good head-to-heads, Rhys Hoskins has owned Mitch Kellher in his career. The sample size is smaller, just eight at-bats, but he has five hits in that span, and three of those are for extra bases. Hoskins has also picked it up as of late, with hits in four of his last five games. In that same span, he has three homers as well.
Graham Ashcraft – Higher than 17.5 Pitching Outs
Ashcraft has beat this projection in two of his last three starts. What makes that even more impressive is that the teams he took deep into the game were the Padres and the Rangers. He had a bit of an issue with too many walks against Arizona last time out. However, that’s a small blip in the radar and something I don’t expect to be a consistent problem. If that is the case, he should keep his pitch count low enough to finish up the 6th inning.
