MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – May 6
Milwaukee Brewers vs. Kansas City Royals
First Pitch – 7:40 pm EST
Kauffman Stadium – Kansas City, Missouri
Broadcast – MLB TV
The Royals might be a surprsing team to see in a NRFI article as they’ve been pretty solid in the first inning so far. They’re top five in scoring runs in the first innings on the year. They have scored an average of 0.71 per first inning this year. However, they haven’t been all that good at scoring lately. They have just six total runs scored in the last two games and have only scored once in the first inning over the last four games. Add in that Bryce Wilson has actually been solid in the starting role for the Brewers and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Kansas City have a dud of an offensive day.
On the other side, I’m not worried about the Brewers getting busy early in this game. Just three weeks into the season, the Brewers were ranked first in runs scored and they’ve slowly slid down the list at the end of April and beginning of May. It’ll be hard to right the ship with Cole Ragans standing across from them. He allowed just one run in each of his last two game.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for May 6: No (-120)
Seattle Mariners vs. Minnesota Twins
First Pitch – 7:40 pm EST
Target Field – Minneapolis, Minnesota
Broadcast – MLB TV
The Twins haven’t been scoring a ton of runs as of late. They’ve scored just ten runs over the last three games and facing Luis Castillo shouldn’t help. He’s allowed just two earned runs in his last three starts, which includes games with the Braves and the Rangers in that time. He’s also struck out 22 batters in 20.0 innings.
The pitching on the other side might not have the name value of a Luis Castillo, but the results have actually been a touch better. Simeon Woods Richardson has allowed just four runs all year, which equates to a 2.45 ERA. Seattle has also not been great at scoring this season. They’re 25th in the league with just 3.65 runs per game. As a result, this is another great NRFI spot.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for May 6: No (-125)
