MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – April 26
St. Louis Cardinals vs. New York Mets
First Pitch – 7:10 pm EST
Citi Field – Queens, New York
Broadcast – Apple TV
Am I a big fan of Miles Mikolas and his stat lines this year? Of course not, but that doesn’t mean I can’t expect him to help me get an NRFI here. Despite his ugly lines, he’s going to be dealing with a Mets team that has been bad early in the game. They are dead last in first inning runs on the year – with just 0.25 per game. They also haven’t scored in the first inning of four straight games.
On the other side of this coin, the Mets send out Jose Butto – who I am actually in on here. He’s been one of the best starters for the Mets this year and is flying way under the radar. He’s rocking a 0.75 home ERA on this short season and has some nice strikeout numbers as well. When you put him up in there against a sub-par offense in St. Louis, this should be an easy NRFI cash.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for April 26: No (-115)
Chicago Cubs vs. Boston Red Sox
First Pitch – 7:10 pm EST
Fenway Park – Boston, Massachusetts
Broadcast – NESN
This play on the NRFI may seem counterintuitive. Both these teams are in the top 10 of runs scored in the first inning. However, I don’t like the Red Sox’s chances to score early here for two reasons. Firstly, they’ve cooled off quite a bit lately. They have just one first inning run over the last four games. They also have to face Shota Imanaga, who let up two runs last start for the first two of his MLB career.
For the Cubs, they’ll face Kutter Crawford, who sports a sharp 0.66 ERA on the year. He’s shut his opponents out in four of his six starts and only allowed one run in the other two. I do worry a bit about how wild he can be, but he seems to be effectively wild with his stuff. I’m saying that’ll carry us to the NRFI here.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for April 26: No (-150)
