NBA First FG Props – April 20
Orlando Magic vs. Cleveland Cavaliers
Tipoff – 1:00 pm EST

The tip data leans in a clear direction for this one. Jarrett Allen was second in the league at winning the tip – only behind Kristaps Porzingis amongst tip men with at least 41 tips. He won 75.3% of all the tips for his team. Wendell Canter Jr., who missed a chunk of the year with injury, won 54.2% of his. With the tip winner getting 64.6% of the first buckets, that’s already a good lean to the Cavaliers.
If we need more reason to take the Cavaliers, there is plenty to get behind. They have a 6.1% advantage in terms of the first field goal success rate. Additionally, they had three of the four first bucket in their head-to-head matchups this year.
Speaking of their head-to-head action, there is one player that played up in those games. Max Strus had two of the three successes for the Cavaliers when the two teams played. He had eight first buckets on the year, which is significant – so we’ll ride with the sharp shooter on Saturday afternoon.

Another of the very best tip guys in the league is in action on Saturday. Jusuf Nurkic is grabbing the tip at a 69.3% rate, which is 21.3% higher than what Rudy Gobert has been grabbing. Additionally, the Suns are getting the first field goal far more often than the Timberwolves. Phoenix has a 8.6% lead in terms of first field goal success rate.
Kevin Durant grabbed the first bucket in their recent game with the Timberwolves. He also led the Suns in first field goals on the year with 12. However, I’m going to look to someone a but further down the card. Bradley Beal has a solid eight first field goals on the year. His outside shooting has been solid and he’s getting a lot of early looks.
