MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – April 10
Tampa Bay Rays vs. Los Angeles Angels
First Pitch – 4:07 pm EST
Angel Stadium – Anaheim, California
Broadcast – MLB TV
This game might look to lean to early action if you look at the data. The teams combine to average for 1.06 runs per first inning. They’re also both in the top 10 of YRFI percentage. The Rays have scored in the first inning of 36.4% of all games and the Angels with 40.0%. So what makes me confident that the pitching will hold up early? The pitchers obviously.
Zach Littell has thrown 11 inning so far this year, and only allowed one earned run doing so. While that was a first inning run, that seems more like a coincidence than a trend. Jose Soriano has been a touch more rough. However, outside of a bad 2nd inning last game, which involved some errors, he has been pretty solid in his short outings as well.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for April 10: No (-105)
Washington Nationals vs. San Francisco Giants
First Pitch – 3:45 pm EST
Oracle Park – San Francisco, California
Broadcast – MLB TV
The Nationals are the only team this year who has not yet scored in the first inning. They are 0-for 11 on the season and there’s really no reason to trust that they turn it around. So given that fact, there is only one team to really have to worry about in this one.
Now, there is a decent reason to be concerned. Patrick Corbin, who has played poorly for the last few years, gets the start for the Nationals. He’s given up four earned runs in each of his two starts this year, but one featured a scorelsss three innings to start. The other had a rough 2nd innings, but was otherwise a decent start. I like his chances to deal with this Giants lineup the first time through.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for April 10: No (-115)
