NBA First FG Props – April 6
Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Los Angeles Lakers
Tipoff – 3:30 pm EST
crypto.com Arena – Los Angeles, California
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
These two teams have pretty similar data when in comes to first bucket success. The Cavaliers have a slight advantage of 5.8%. They rank 4th in the NBA in getting the job done, while the Lakers are middle of the pack. However, the big difference comes with the tips and having the early possession.
The Cavaliers send out Jarrett Allen for the tip and he’s winning 75.0% of them on the year. He trails only Kristaps Porzingis amongst jumpers with at least 30 attempts. The once dominant Anthony Davis has fallen a bit in this regard. He has just a 55.4% win rate, which should give the first possession, and likely the first bucket, to the Cavaliers.
Only one guy on Cleveland has taken one of their first three shots in each of the last three games. That man is the aformentioned Jarrett Allen. In one of those games he managed to take two of the first three. He has no first buckets to show for it in those games, so it must be time to get him on the board here.
First FG Bet for April 6: Jarrett Allen (+425)
Detroit Pistons vs. Brooklyn Nets
Tipoff – 7:00 pm EST
Barclays Center – Brooklyn, New York
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
In this short slate of Saturday games, there aren’t a lot of spots with big gaps in the early game stats. Take this one for instance – the Pistons hold just a 1.3% advantge in first bucket success. That’s not really enough to have a lean one way or the other. However, the tip data does make things a bit clearer. The Nets have a 10.3% advantage in the tip win percentage. With the tip winner getting 64.5% of all first buckets, that’s enough for me to like Brooklyn here.
In the last two games Mikal Bridges has lit up the early play log. He is ripping off shots left and right. He’s taken at least four shots in three of his last four first quarters. He has 10 first buckets on the year, which accounts for 26.3% of the production for the Nets.
First FG Bet for April 6: Mikal Bridges (+650)
