Yesterday’s card featured a pair of easy cashes and one awful play that was doomed from the start. Armando Bacot cleared his points total, and Joe Girard stayed under his PRA. Tamin Lipsey struggled in his matchup against the Fighting Illini and missed going over on his PRA.
The next four Sweet Sixteen games are a challenge to cap. Trying to find square numbers today was tough, but we were able to find three plays that make sense. Let’s dive into my Underdog Fantasy college basketball March Madness picks for March 29.

Tyler Kolek (Marquette) Higher Than 16.5 Points
This is easily the best play of the night on a really tough slate for square numbers. Marquette’s Tyler Kolek enters the Sweet Sixteen averaging 15.3 points per game this season. However, that’s not really what matters.
Kolek is fully healthy and played 38 and 40 minutes in his first two tournament games. He should see a similar workload against NC State tonight. He also cleared 16.5 points in each tournament game.
NC State isn’t a great defensive team. They’ve allowed opponents to shoot 34.3% from beyond the arc this year and just allowed Texas Tech’s Pop Isaacs and Joe Toussaint to shoot 12 free throws. If Kolek gets loose around the arc and ends up getting the line, this number doesn’t stand a chance.

Zakai Zeigler (Tennessee) Higher Than 6.0 Assists
Tennessee point guard Zakai Zeigler enters the Sweet Sixteen averaging 6.0 assists per game. He’s also cleared six assists or more in six of his last eight games.
Zeigler will likely play close to 40 minutes in his matchup against Creighton. The Blue Jays are a capable defensive team, but they are dead last in the nation in opponent turnovers generated per game, so Zeigler won’t be impacted much by lost possessions.
The Blue Jays only allow 11.3 opponent assists per game this year, but that’s more due to the pace they play than defensive skill. Zeigler should be able to hook his teammates up and clear 6.0 assists as he compiles his way to a solid night. Look for Zeigler to clear his assists total in your Underdog Fantasy college basketball pick’em entry for March 29.
Jeremy Roach (Duke) Higher Than 2.0 Turnovers
Duke guard Jeremy Roach enters the Sweet Sixteen averaging 1.3 turnovers per game. However, Duke has to play the Houston Cougars. Houston averages 15.9 opponent turnovers per game this year.
Also, Roach has seen an increased workload in the ACC conference tournament and the NCAA tournament. He’s had two or more turnovers in three of his last four games.
There’s a solid chance that Roach plays close to 40 minutes today. Assuming that’s the case, he’s going to spend most of the game getting harassed by the Houston Cougars’ backcourt. Given the number of minutes Roach should log and the number of touches he’s likely to get, he should clear 2.0 turnovers with ease.
