Boo Buie (Northwestern) Higher Than 2.0 Three-Pointers Made
Northwestern guard Boo Buie is coming into the tournament averaging 2.7 made three-pointers per game this year. He’s cleared 2.0 threes made in all of his last four games against Big 10 opponents.
Florida Atlantic is 161st in three-point percentage against this year. This isn’t a terrible matchup for Buie, and we’re going to ride the hot hand in the first round.
Buie’s usage rate is also through the roof. He’s been well over 35 minutes per game for almost a month. Look for him to be out there as long as he’s not in foul trouble. Make sure you go higher on his made three-pointers in your Underdog Fantasy college basketball entry for March 22.
Reyne Smith (Charleston) Higher Than 12.5 Points
This is the ‘Fade-The-Alabama-Defense’ play for today.
Charleston guard Reyne Smith is coming into the tournament averaging 12.8 points per game. He’s gone over 12.5 points in four of his last five. He also hails from Tasmania. Not an angle worth playing, but it’s kind of cool.
In the CAA Final against Stony Brook, Smith played 38 minutes. He should be close to 38 if the Cougars are able to stay in this one. His normal usage rate is 25 minutes per game, but his usage has been ramping up over the past few weeks.
Smith’s recent run includes a 21-point performance against Hofstra. The Pride are 117th in Adjusted Defense. That’s only four spots behind the Crimson Tide.
Smith should find space to shoot against Alabama. He’s the leading scorer on the Cougars. His teammates are used to looking for him, and he should get his. Also, if you thought a former four-year JuCo player roasting Kentucky was wild, just wait until it’s a guy from Tasmania jacking up threes against Alabama.
Smith’s three-pointers made is also in play.
Jaelen House (New Mexico) Higher Than 16.5 Points
New Mexico combo guard Jaelen House is averaging 16.1 points per game entering the tournament. He’s scored 16.5 points in each of his last three games in the Mountain West Conference tournament, all against defenses in the upper half of the conference.
The Clemson Tigers are 189th in the nation in three-point percentage against, and their Adjusted Defense rating is actually lower than Boise State, Colorado State, and San Diego State.
House should get his in the first-round matchup against Clemson, so you’ll want to include him in your Underdog Fantasy college basketball pick’em entry for March 22.
