Let’s get into my 2024 ACC Tournament preview, picks, and best bets!
2024 ACC Tournament Preview, Picks and Best Bets
The North Carolina Tar Heels visited rival Duke on Saturday evening as the rivals battled it out for the regular-season ACC championship. The Tar Heels entered the game with at least a share of the title already in hand.
Had Duke won, they would have split the title, but North Carolina went on to hold off the Blue Devils and keep the regular-season title all to themselves, Sweeping Duke in the season series.
The Tar Heels will now seek their first ACC Tournament title since 2016 and are looking to wrap up a potential No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament later this month.
While they may need a little help from other conference tournaments, an ACC Tournament championship would go a long way in securing that No. 1 seed.

Best Bet to Win: North Carolina (+150)
The Tar Heels ended the season with a big win at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Saturday. The odds tell the story that this tournament has a strong chance of going the way of the No. 1 seeded Tar Heels or No. 2 seeded Blue Devils.
With that being the case, and these two teams being the strongest of the group by quite a bit, pick your poison between the two. For me, it’s North Carolina all the way.
While it’s a tall task to beat a rival three times in a single season, North Carolina would be asked to do so if these teams meet in the finals.
However, they’ve done it twice already this season and only suffered three conference losses along the way. The Tar Heels ended the season on a six-game win streak, winning each game comfortably by five points or more. They are firing on all cylinders right now and are the best bet to win the ACC Tournament.
Mid-Tier Best Bet to Win: Clemson Tigers +850
In what has been a down year overall for the ACC, the No. 6 seeded Clemson Tigers actually have the third-best odds to win the ACC Tournament. While an 82-76 loss to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons wasn’t ideal for the Tigers, costing them a double bye in the tournament. This is still a team that has the potential to get the job done.
While it’s likely the Duke and North Carolina show, the Tigers have at least shown an ability to win big games. Signature wins over South Carolina and Alabama, both teams vying for the SEC regular season title late in the year, along with already having beat the No. 1 seed North Carolina Tar Heels earlier this season, all bode well for this Clemson team.
Dark Horse Tournament Winner: Syracuse Orangemen +6500
In recent years, some lower-seeded teams have won in the ACC Tournament. It was 2021 when the No. 4 seed Yellow Jackets of Georgia Tech cut down the nets. In 2022, the No. 7 seed Virginia Tech Hokies pulled out the upset.
All signs point towards this being a chalky championship game, but the one thing everyone loves about March is a good upset! Their season has been up and down, finishing with a conference record right above the .500 mark.
Despite getting whooped by the Tar Heels in their first matchup by an astonishing score of 103-67. The Orangemen didn’t quit and pulled the 86-79 upset of the Tar Heels just a month later at the JMA Wireless Dome. Syracuse did it once before, so maybe they are the long shot that can win this season’s ACC Tournament title.
