NBA First FG Props – March 6
Chicago Bulls vs. Utah Jazz
Tipoff – 9:00 pm EST
Delta Center – Salt Lake City, Utah
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
The Jazz are an easy team to fade on the first bucket right now. Not only are they dead last in first field goal conversions, they also are insanely banged up. Walker Kessler and Lauri Markkanen will both miss Wednesday game, which affects their inside and outside game, as well as the tip.
The Bulls are not world beaters on the tip or the first bucket. However, they are substantially ahead of the Jazz in scoring first. In addition, we saw them take care of a weak jump ball guy in Domantas Sabonis Monday night. In that game they got the tip and a quick first score.
Despite having some former all-stars on their roster, the Bulls have had the same guy take the first shot in each of the last three games. Ayo Dosunmu just keeps getting early looks. Making it four in a row might seem like a stretch, but with his odds where they are, I see no reason to buck this trend.
First FG Bet for March 6: Ayo Dosunmu (+600)
Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Portland Trail Blazers
Tipoff – 10:00 pm EST
Moda Center – Portland, Oregon
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
The direction of these two teams in terms of competition are completely opposite – as is their abilities to get the first bucket. As in just about any category right now, the Thunder have a big advantage over the Blazers. In scoring the first field goal, they place 12th in the NBA, compared to 27th for the Blazers. And the difference is not small, with the Thunder having a 10.7% advantage.
The tip should also be solid for the Thunder. Chet Holgren is getting the tip at a 63.9% clip. If Deandre Ayton is good to go, he’s getting just 55.0% of all his tips. If he isn’t ready to go, the job will fall to Duop Reath. Reath is getting just 15.4% of his tips.
The usual suspects for the Thunder are Holmgren, Josh Giddey and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. However, there is a starter with an absurd amount of the early action coming in with nice odds. Luguentz Dort has three first buckets on the year and two of them came last month.
First FG Bet for March 6: Luguentz Dort (+850)
