NFL Combine Underdog Picks – Offensive Lineman

Olu Fashanu Offensive Tackle, Penn State – 4.97 Second 40 Time

Don’t let 6-6 317 lbs fool you. Olu Fashanu is a bad, fast man. Fashanu ran a 4.97 40-yard time last year that would have been the best among offensive linemen if he had been there. Fashanu is almost certain to go top 10 in the 2024 NFL Draft. The question is, can Fashanu repeat or better a time that fast? If anyone can, it’ll be Olu, but it’ll be a tough time to top.

Pick: Slower Than 4.97 Seconds

Joe Alt Offensive Tackle, Notre Dame – 5.07 Second 40 Time

Joe Alt enters this draft in the same conversation as Fashanu to be a high-level draft pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. At 6-8 and 322 pounds with unreal athleticism, Alt is sure to make a strong anchor for an NFL franchise.

Alt played tight end in high school before switching to offensive line in college. While there’s no official recorded time for Joe in the past, some projections have him running as fast at a 4.90 40-yard dash time. There seems to be enough leeway in this line to take him faster than.

Pick: Faster Than 5.07 Seconds

Tyler Guyton Offensive Tackle, Oklahoma – 5.22 Second 40 Time

The 6-7 328 lbs tackle for the Sooners started as a high-school basketball star before going to TCU to play for two seasons before transferring to Oklahoma. While at TCU, Guyton showed his athletic ability by starting a game in the H-back position.

Guyton says during his training, he once hit a 4.27-second 40-yard dash. While that’s highly unofficial and unlikely for him to do on Sunday, I do think the former basketball star can reach back to his days of running down the court and run a little faster than 5.22 seconds.

Pick: Faster Than 5.22 Seconds

JC Latham Offensive Tackle, Alabama – 5.02 Second 40 Time

Latham stands 6-6 and checks in at 360 lbs. In this loaded offensive tackle class, Latham is another potential early-first-round pick that could anchor the line for an NFL franchise for years to come.

A 5-star prospect out of high school, Latham has lived up to every bit of his rankings. JC is a broad player who is light on his feet and explosive off the snap. That bursting ability has me thinking he’ll go faster than.

Pick: Faster Than 5.22 Seconds
