The numbers on converting the first field goals in this game are pretty close. The Celtics are second in the NBA with a 10.2% lead over the 9th place Warriors. The bigger difference comes in their ability to win the tip. Kristaps Porzingis is winning 77.3% of all the tips. Draymond Green, meanwhile, is winning just 22.2% of his. With that 50% lead on the jump and tip winners getting 64.3% of the tips – we’re riding with the Celtics here.
The Celtics have plenty of guys that are getting first buckets. The most active is Jayson Tatum, who is putting up plenty of first scores, particularly as of late. However, we’re going to ride with the other guy getting plenty of early action – Kristaps Porzingis. Not only is he shooting a solid percentage lately, but he has two of their last six first buckets and three of their last nine.
First FG Bet for March 3: Kristaps Porzingis (+400)
Indiana Pacers vs. San Antonio Spurs
Tipoff – 7:00 pm EST
Frost Bank Center – San Antonio, Texas
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
The leads in this game on the early games stats are a little more reasonable than the ones in the Celtics game. However, the Spurs hold all of those advantages. They have a 9.9% lead on the tip thanks to the work of Victor Wembanyama. They also have a 4.9% advantage on the first bucket. Tie those two together along with the fact that home teams have a slight lead in terms of scoring first (52.0%) and we’re on the Spurs.
In two of the last three games Devin Vassell has taken one of the first three shots. In the others, he’s conceded some of those longer range shots to Julian Champagnie. With Champagnie out for this game, it would seem that he’ll get the chance to take those shots instead.
First FG Bet for March 3: Devin Vassell (+650)
