NBA Picks March 1st
Dallas Mavericks vs. Boston Celtics
Tipoff – 7:30 pm EST
Spread: Celtics -7.5
Total: 240
The premier matchup on Friday night would have to be the Dallas Mavericks visiting Boston to take on the Celtics. Dallas dropped the first two games of their Eastern Conference road trip, but beat Toronto on Wednesday.
Boston, meanwhile, continues to steamroll the league. They finished February winning nine straight games, and 11 of their last 12 games. But they aren’t just winning, they are winning by wide margins. I think they cover the 7.5 points for us tomorrow. And I like the Under for the total – it’s about five to 10 points too high in my eyes.
Best Bet: Celtics -7.5 (-109); Mavericks/Celtics Under 240 (-110)
Portland Trail Blazers vs. Memphis Grizzlies
Tipoff – 8:00 pm EST
Spread: Grizzlies -2.5
Total: 208
This, most definitely, is not in the running for the premier game on Friday night. The 15-42 Portland Trail Blazers meet the 20-39 Memphis Grizzlies.
The Blazers finished the month of February a perfect 0-9 – yep, they went winless for the full month. Plus, more or less their whole roster is on the injured list currently. I like the Grizzlies -2.5, and I like the Over 208 – it’s too low in my eyes, even with the depleted rosters.
Best Bet: Grizzlies -2.5; Trail Blazers/Grizzlies Over 208 (-110)
