Opening Day College Baseball Picks February 19th

All Bets Are To Win 1 Unit

3:00 PM -175 Indiana State at South Florida +135 (O/U 13)

PROBABLE PITCHERS

Indiana State: TBA

South Florida: TBA

I’m attacking the total in this game. Indiana State vs South Florida’s O/U is priced like a typical Game 3 of a series or a midweek game when it shouldn’t be treated that way.

In 2023, Indiana State had a top 10 pitching staff ERA-wise with a 3.74. Although the Sycamores didn’t return a starting pitcher from last year, that hasn’t slowed them down this year. The Sycs have started 2-0 while allowing just 8 runs in two games. Add in an off day, and the bullpen will be rested and ready to deal.

Monday’s game is actually South Florida’s second game of the season. They still have a quality starting pitcher in Jack Cebert, who could start today’s game. Cebert was an All-AAC preseason selection after going 4-4 with a 5.05 ERA last season.

He had 65 strikeouts and just 21 walks in a team-leading 76.2 innings pitched. The Bulls will also have a rested pen. USF held UConn to just one run in their first game of the season on Friday.

-115 Indiana State / South Florida Under 13

3:00 PM +130 BYU at Grand Canyon -166 (O/U 14)

PROBABLE PITCHERS

BYU: TBA

Grand Canyon: TBA

Mid-major powerhouse Grand Canyon is slated to play projected last-place Big 12 team BYU in their final game of the MLB Desert Invitational. Cougar hitters have been striking out at a crazy 34.7% clip to start this season. When BYU does put the ball in play offensively, they haven’t done any damage. As a team, the Cougs have just a .697 Team OPS.

Grand Canyon has a team OPS of .865 and has been led by Beau Ankeney. The Junior is 6-for-9 in his first two games with two home runs, four RBI, and four runs scored. Gimme the Lopes in this one.

-166 Grand Canyon ML

3:00 PM +250 UNLV at Stanford -345 (O/U 13.5)

PROBABLE PITCHERS

UNLV: TBA

Stanford: TBA

Stanford struggled during Opening Weekend as they lost two of three to their rival Cal State Fullerton. The offense didn’t put together many rallies, and the pitching isn’t nearly as good as in years past. I’m not sure if the Rebels can win this game outright, but UNLV should be able to keep this one close against the Cardinal as they are enduring a rebuilding year.

+105 UNLV +3.5 RL
