All Bets Are To Win 1 Unit

NOON -160 UCSB at Campbell +124 (O/U N/A)

PROBABLE PITCHERS

UCSB: SR. LHP Mike Gutierrez (2023: 10 Apps, 10 Starts, 46 IP, 2.54 ERA, 57 K, 13 BB, 3.54 FIP, 2.42 SIERA)

Campbell: FR. Cooper Clark (Perfect Game Class of 2023 Rankings: 539th Overall, 74th N.C., 22nd N.C. RHP)

UCSB has a major matchup advantage on the mound here. Campbell will be starting North Carolina native Cooper Clark. The scouting report on Clark is that he is a soft-tossing strike thrower, which sounds similar to Camels’ Friday starter Derek Vartanian. The Gauchos slapped seven hits for 10 runs in 2.2 innings against Vartanian.

Also, this Camels pitching staff has struggled with walks. They walked NINETEEN Gauchos in Game 1 and six in Game 2. We can’t trust Campbell’s bullpen because it has surrendered 13 runs to UCSB in two games already.

Bumping for UCSB will be Senior Mike Gutierrez. He is an arm with two strong years of starting experience. Last season, Gutierrez put up a 2.42 ERA, which is considered beyond elite for the sabermetric. In 133.1 career innings pitched for the Gauchos, the southpaw has a 2.97 ERA with a 9.66 K/9.

2:00 PM +120 Northeastern at Arizona -150 (O/U N/A)

PROBABLE PITCHERS

Northeastern: SO. RHP Aiven Cabral (2023: 19 Apps, 16 Starts, 83.2 IP, 2.58 ERA, 69 K, 14 BB, 3.95 FIP)

Campbell: JR. Anthony Susac (2023: 13 Apps, 7 Starts, 40 IP, 6.08 ERA, 32 K, 18 BB, 4.25 SIERA)

Aiven Cabral provides the Huskies an advantage on the mound. Hi Corbett Field is a launchpad, and Cabral is a “pitch to contact” pitcher, however over 50% of the balls put in play against Cabral are ground baslls. Behind Cabral, the staff is solid as Northeastern was ranked 3rd nationally in Team ERA last year with a 3.75.

Offensively the Huskies return 90 of their 106 home runs hit a season ago. Plus, the team also stole the 9th most bases per game (94-133). Mike Sirota is a Centerfielder who is garnering attention inside the top 10 picks for this year.

Cam Maldonado is another speedy outfielder with power. The attention that Sirota is garnering is also creating a path for Maldonado to many scouting looks prior to the MLB Draft in 2025.

This weekend against Arizona, Sirota is 2-8 with a walk and three strikeouts, and Maldonado is 0-7 with one punchout and a HBP. Against the Wildcats’ 3rd best SP, this could be the day that Sirota and Maldonado make statements inside the hitter-friendly Hi Corbett Field.

A shot on the midmajor team that returns a ton of experience and is pitching an established starter (at plus money) over the rebuilding high-major program is worth it every day of the week.

+120 Northeastern ML

3:00 PM -135 Duke at Coastal Carolina +105 (O/U N/A)

PROBABLE PITCHERS

Duke: SO. RHP Aidan Weaver (2023: 24 Apps, 3 Starts, 33.1 IP, 4.86 ERA, 36 K, 22 BB, 5.37 FIP)

Coastal Carolina: JR. Ryan Lynch (Bellevue College Transfer)

Last season, Duke ended Coastal Carolina’s season in the Conway Regional final. Duke has looked good in their first two games this weekend, but they don’t return much of their lineup from last year.

The Chanticleers returned a large portion of their offensive production from a season ago and replaced some of the pitching staff. There has been a pretty good continuity of arms for the Blue Devils from last year to this year. My prediction is that the returning hurlers for Duke actually helps out CCU because many of their hitters have already faced these guys before.

Duke SP Aidan Weaver faced Coastal Carolina in one inning last season. Weaver struck out one and walked two. A simple handicap on Weaver is that he had success in his Freshman year, but his FIP suggests some regression coming in his Sophomore campaign. If Weaver struggles, Coach Pollard usually has a quick trigger to the bullpen, which is quite good.

On the mound for the Chanticleers will be Ryan Lynch. At his previous school, Lynch dominated the JUCO competition. Lynch had 78 punchies in 64 innings with only eight walks, which resulted in a 0.56 ERA.

Duke’s offense dropped 23 runs on George Mason yesterday via 11 home runs, breaking a school record. Coastal Carolina enters Sunday after a tough, close loss on Saturday. I expect the Chants to be searching for revenge.

+105 Coastal Carolina ML

-133 ML Parlay: Indiana ML / East Carolina ML

Indiana faces George Mason, who has looked terrible this weekend, especially on the mound. In two games so far the Patriots run differential is a humorous -44. The moneyline odds for this tilt are honestly just priced wrong.

East Carolina has defeated Rider in the first two games of this weekend’s three-game set by scores of 16-2 and 7-0. JR. RHP Jake Hunter (4-2, 4.71 ERA) will toss on Sunday for the Pirates. The Broncos are starting a true freshman, Jake Dorety. The ECU lineup should feast once again while having a more solid pitching performance than Rider is projected to have.
