NBA First FG Props – February 14
Indiana Pacers vs. Toronto Raptors
Tipoff – 7:30 pm EST
Scotiabank Arena – Toronto, Ontario
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
The data is clear on this one and it leans to the Raptors. Of course, it’s really easy to tail the best team in the league on the first bucket (68.5%). However, it also helps when they’re facing off with on of the worst teams in the league at scoring first. The Pacers rank 22nd in first field goals (44.6%). The Raptors will also have a small advantage on the tip at 7.3%.
It’s always easy to take the guy who scores first the most on the team. Scottie Barnes is that man for the Raptors with 11 successes. While some might look to other options to be a contrarian, he’s getting such a high volume of their early shots, I’m going to ride the chalk. Plus, with RJ Barrett banged up and on the injury report, there’s one less guy with a number of success to get those.
First FG Bet for February 14: Scottie Barnes (+550)
Chicago Bulls vs. Cleveland Cavaliers
Tipoff – 7:30 pm EST
Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse – Cleveland, Ohio
Broadcast – ESPN
This game will feature one of the widest gaps possible in the league when it comes to tipoff data. The Cavaliers are first in the league and the Bulls rank 25th. There is a 32.3% advantage for Cleveland. The difference on the first field goal is a bit smaller at just a 13.2% lead for the Cavaliers. However, with those stats pointing in their favor and the tip winner getting 65% of the first buckets, you’ll want to take a Cavaliers player.
Donovan Mitchell is another of those names that frequently pop up for his squad. However, Evan Mobley has been on the early play-by-play for the Cavaliers. He took one of their first three shots last game and two of their first three the game before. With the short range he typically is firing from, those are higher percentage shots as well.
First FG Bet for February 14: Evan Mobley (+550)
