NBA First FG Props – February 8
San Antonio Spurs vs. Orlando Magic
Tipoff – 7:00 pm EST
Kia Center – Orlando, Florida
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
The early game stats don’t favor the home Magic here at all – nor do they ever really. They trail the Spurs in terms of first bucket percentage by a tune of 11.8%. The Magic land all the way down at 26th in those league rankings. The outlook is better on the tip for them where they trail the Spurs by 31.4%. With the tip winner getting roughly 65% of all first buckets, that bodes well for the visitors.
While he hasn’t hit either of them, Jeremy Sochan has taken the first shot in back-to-back games for the Spurs. He’s been getting a lot of looks all year early in the game. In fact, he has two of their last five successes. On of those recent successes was against these very same Magics. I like him here to duplicate those efforts.
First FG Bet for February 8: Jeremy Sochan (TBD)
Chicago Bulls vs. Memphis Grizzlies
Tipoff – 8:00 pm EST
FedExForum – Memphis, Tennessee
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
The Spurs and Magic game has a pretty big discrepancy with the number, but so does this one in Memphis. The Bulls are 24th in the league on the first bucket and are 7.9% behind the Grizzlies. The tip looks even worse for them. The Grizzlies are second in the league on the tip with 70.6% – which is 33.3% better than the Bulls. Jaren Jackson Jr. should grab this tip easily and we’ll ride with the Grizzlies to knock something down.
The Grizzlies are not the healthiest team at the moment and they’ll be without Xavier Tillman after his trade to the Celtics. However, that loss should be the gain of some of these other guys who play the same kind of position that the 6’7″ forward did. Vince Williams Jr. is one of the names I expect to get more volume. He’s already been getting an untick in action early with two first scores in their last five successes. Let’s ride him to do it again.
First FG Bet for February 8: Vince Williams Jr. (TBD)
