NBA First FG Props – February 7
New Orleans Pelicans vs. Los Angeles Clippers
Tipoff – 10:00 pm EST
crypto.com Arena – Los Angeles, California
Broadcast – ESPN
The Pelicans are far from being one of the best teams in the Association when it comes to the early game. They fall in the bottom third of the league in getting first scores with just 46.0%. They are a little bit better on the jump, where their number leaps up to 48.0% – good for 17th in the league. However, while they’re not a team to tail all the time, this is a great spot for them.
The Clippers are far worse in every facet of the early game. They rank 28th in the NBA on the tip with just 32.7%. They are even worse at converting the possessions that they do get early. They fall to 29th when looking at the actual first field goals thanks to a 36.7% success rate. It could be worse too with Ivica Zubac listed as a game-time decision.
One name that has shown up in the early game for the Pelicans all year is Brandon Ingram. He has 9 first field goals on the year and has taken one of their first three shots in four of their last five games. Not that it’s a great indicator, but he also scored first when these two teams squared off in November.
First FG Bet for February 7: Brandon Ingram (+500)
Detroit Pistons vs. Sacramento Kings
Tipoff – 10:00 pm EST
Golden 1 Center – Sacramento, California
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
The Kings aren’t putting up much different numbers than the Clippers as one of the worst in the league. They’re a touch better when it comes to first buckets, where they are ranked 18th at 49.0%. However, they continue to be the very worst team in the league on the jump. They’re winning only 28.6% of their jump balls largely thanks to Domantas Sabonis. With the tip winner getting 64.5% of all first buckets, that’d already be enough to fade the Kings.
However, there’s more reasons to get behind the Pistons as well. They’re 4th in the NBA on the first score – only behind the Raptors, Mavericks and Celtics. Jalen Duren is also winning well over half of his opportunities on the tip.
If you take the first three shots in each of the last three Pistons games, Bojan Bogdanovic has four of those nine shots. It’s pretty much just him and Cade Cunningham early on. With Cunningham banged up a bit, we’ll ride with the Croatian sharpshooter.
First FG Bet for February 7: Bojan Bogdanovic (+600)
