NBA First FG Props – February 6

Orlando Magic vs. Miami Heat

Tipoff – 7:30 pm EST
Kaseya Center – Miami, Florida
Broadcast – NBA League Pass

In addition to the Magic being an auto-fade team on the early bucket, there is a lot of reason to like the Heat right now. The Heat have gotten seven first buckets in their last eight games. Bam Adebayo has won four of the last five tips as well. And it’s not just lately that they’ve been good. They currently rank 5th in the NBA in both winning the tipoff and getting the first field goal. With the Magic at the bottom of the league in both of those stats, you have to go with someone from Miami here.

If you’re looking for a pick on Tuesday that’s a bit off the beaten path, what about Haywood Highsmith? The guy has taken an odd amount of the early shots for the Heat despite not getting a huge share of the overall load. Two games ago, he took two of their first three shots. The took another in their last game. His percentage hasn’t been sky high, but I like the volume he’s been getting and the number next to his name will be fat.

First FG Bet for February 6: Haywood Highsmith (+1300)

Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Utah Jazz

Tipoff – 9:00 pm EST
Delta Center – Salt Lake City, Utah
Broadcast – NBA League Pass

The Thunder are going to have clear advantages when it comes to the early game stats here. They have a 54.0% first field goal average, which puts them in the top 10 in the league. The Jazz, meanwhile, are much lower with a 33.3% average – putting them dead last in the Association.

The tip data has a similar look. The Jazz are a touch better at 37.3% (26th in the league). Oklahoma City, behind the work of Chet Holmgren, is at 64.0%. That’s good enough to put them in the top 5. With the Thunder having such an advantage and the tip winner getting about 65% of the first scores – this should be the Thunder all day.

It may be a bit of a chalk play, but the aforementioned Chet Holmgren has been on of the best in the league on the first score. He has three of the last five for the Thunder and nine total on the year. He took their second shot last time out and I think he gets an earlier one here.

First FG Bet for February 6: Chet Holmgren (+500)
