NBA Picks January 30th
Indiana Pacers vs. Boston Celtics
Tipoff – 7:30 pm EST
Spread: Celtics -5.5
Total: 240.5
It was just yesterday that I wrote that the Boston Celtics were money at home, and they did indeed win again at TD Garden on Monday night (but they didn’t cover against the New Orleans Pelicans – grrr). So why am I picking the Pacers +5.5 on Tuesday? First off, it’s a back-to-back for the Celtics. Secondly, Tyrese Haliburton is expected to lace them up tomorrow. And Indiana is on a run, having won three straight. The total is set about right, so no play on it.
Best Bet: Pacers +5.5 (-110)
Utah Jazz vs. New York Knicks
Tipoff – 7:30 pm EST
Spread: Knicks -3.5
Total: 233.5
Both the Utah Jazz and the New York Knicks played on Monday, so no rest for either team. The Knicks will be without Julius Randle for weeks with a shoulder injury and were without OG Anunoby on Monday night as well. Yet they still beat the Hornets in Charlotte by 21 points, while the Jazz were losing by 33 points in Brooklyn. I like the Knicks, 16-5 at Madison Square Garden, to prevail tomorrow night. And I think the total is a little high, especially with Randle out, so let’s play the Under.
Best Bet: Knicks -3.5 (-110); Jazz/Knicks Under 233.5 (-110)
