NBA First FG Props – January 13
Houston Rockets vs. Boston Celtics
Tipoff – 7:00 pm EST
TD Garden – Boston, Massachusetts
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
Celtics are the only team in the league that has managed to stay in the top five in both tipoff percentage and first field goal average. They rank 3rd in the league in the latter and 4th in the league in the former. Also, they do a touch better with Kristaps Porzingis taking the jump, which he should be healthy enough to do Saturday. The Rockets, meanwhile, rank 22nd in both categories. That should be enough to lean to the Celtics.
It almost feels as if I’m beating a dead horse here, but Jrue Holiday keeps posting with nice numbers next to his name. He also keeps getting early shots. He pulled up from 25-feet last game to kick it off and just missed. He also had one of the Celtics first three shots in the three games prior. Is this the game where he finally rips the bandaid off and grabs one? I think so.
First FG Bet for January 13: Jrue Holiday (+650)
Orlando Magic vs. Oklahoma City Thunder
Tipoff – 8:00 pm EST
Paycom Center – Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
With Wendell Carter Jr. out of commission for Saturday, you aren’t going to see a much larger difference when it comes to the tip than this game. Goga Bitadze is grabbing just 19.2% of all tipoffs. Chet Holmgren, on the other hand, is snagging 64.9% of the tips. With the tip winner taking two-thirds of the first buckets, this should be enough to get on the Thunder side.
Don’t look now, but they’re letting Chet Holmgren fire off again early in the games. He’s taken at least two of the first four shots in back to back games. He may not be lights out from deep, but we’re playing a bulk game here. I think he gets something to fall here.
First FG Bet for January 13: Chet Holmgren (+450)
