Magomed Ankalaev – Lower than 2 Takedowns
The term ‘fumbling the bag’ perfectly describes Magomed Ankalaev. Despite only technically losing one fight in his career, he seems to find a way to take the most difficult path to victory (or to a draw or a No Contest).
He should be spamming takedowns on Johnny Walker, as he is a far better grappler than the big man, and Walker is a dangerous and physically much bigger striker.
Yet I don’t think Ankalaev is going to do that. In their first encounter, he scored one takedown, which he followed up with an illegal knee. He has only gone higher than two takedowns (three, to be exact) once in 12 UFC fights. I’m counting on that trend to continue.
Manel Kape – Higher than 64.5 Significant Strikes
We also get a rematch in our co-main event, an exciting flyweight matchup between Manel Kape and Matheus Nicolau. In their first meeting, Nicolau got the win as Kape was fighting too passively in his first two UFC contests.
Even without putting his foot down on the gas, Kape still landed 61 significant strikes in that fight. Now that he seems to be fighting more like himself and is going all out in fights, I expect him to land at least four more strikes than he did in their first meeting.
Gabriel Benitez – Lower than 8.5 Fight Time (Mins)
Over the last five years of his UFC career, it’s been pretty much a ‘kill or be killed’ situation for Gabriel ‘Moggly’ Benitez in his fights. In his seven fights since 2018, Benitez has only seen the Round 2 card displayed twice. His last two fights haven’t even made it out of the first round.
His opponent on Saturday, Jim Miller, has been displaying old manpower, finishing opponents quickly. I think he will do the same this weekend to Benitez, probably via knockout, as Benitez has been T/KO’d in two of his last three fights and now he’s fighting up at lightweight instead of featherweight.
