Two of the NBA’s top players, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Haliburton, are both expected to be on the sidelines for their respective teams tomorrow. And that just so happens to play into my picks. Here are my NBA picks for January 12th

NBA Picks January 12th
Sacramento Kings vs. Philadelphia 76ers
Tipoff – 7:30 pm EST
Spread: 76ers -1
Total: 240.5
Joel Embiid is expected to miss his third straight game tomorrow, this one at home against the Sacramento Kings. The Philadelphia 76ers are 2-6 this season when their big man has been on the sidelines. And the Kings are a very good road team, ranking third in the NBA (tied with Philadelphia, ironically) with a 10-7 record on the road. I love the Kings +1 here. And I think the total should be in the mid-230s, and that’s with Embiid suiting up, so I’m playing the Under as well.
Best Bet: Kings +1 (-110), Kings/76ers Under 240.5 (-110)
Indiana Pacers vs. Atlanta Hawks
Tipoff – 7:30 pm EST
Spread: Hawks -5
Total: 254.5
Neither of these teams plays any defense, so this game is sure to be fireworks. But a 254.5 total? With no Tyrese Haliburton playing for the Indiana Pacers? With Haliburton in uniform, I’d expect this game to get into the high 240s. So, without him, I’m definitely taking the Under on Friday. And the Pacers are keeping afloat without their star guard this season, going 2-2 when he’s been out. I’m sprinkling on them covering the spread tomorrow in Atlanta
Best Bet: Pacers +5 (-110), Pacers/Hawks Under 254.5 (-110)
