Ryan Langborg (Northwestern) Higher Than 5 Rebounds + Assists
If Northwestern is going to stay in the game against Michigan State, the Wildcats need to be scrappy on the boards. Ryan Langborg has recorded 5 or more rebounds and assists in 10 straight games.
The Spartans rank 280th in opponents’ assists per field goal made. Langborg is dropping 2.8 dimes per game. Plus, the Princeton transfer should draw Tyson Walker on the perimeter, who isn’t known for excelling in the rebound department.
Elijah Hawkins (Minnesota) Higher Than 5.5 Assists
Howard transfer point guard Elijah Hawkins is really starting to adapt to his new scenario in Minneapolis. Hawkins has eclipsed 5.5 assists in 6 straight games, and Minnesota is 6-0 in that span.
Even though Maryland does well at limiting assisted baskets, the Terrapins are 2-10 straight up in their last 12 road games. I think the Golden Gophers can have success on Sunday, and the offense runs through Hawkins.
AJ Hoggard (Michigan State) Higher Than 0.5 3 Pointers Made
Michigan State point guard AJ Hoggard is a polarizing player in the Big Ten. Hoggard may not lead the Spartans in points, but when he goes, the team goes. Head Coach Tom Izzo benched the Senior against Georgia Southern due to his poor play earlier in the season when the Spartans struggled out of the gates.
Since the benching, Hoggard has come alive again. He is averaging 12.9 PPG, 5.7 APG, and 3.1 RPG during the seven-game span. Additionally, Hoggard is sporting a 44.4% from 3PT range and has hit at least one 3ball in six of the seven games. Northwestern’s defense ranks 244th in defending the perimeter (34.6%).
