College Basketball Picks January 2nd
Iowa at Wisconsin (-7.5) (O/U 152.5)
Wisconsin hosts Iowa, who is in search of their first Big Ten win of the 2023-2024 season. Iowa lacks firepower at multiple levels, which will be tough to overcome against this Wisconsin team, who will be a tough out all-Big Ten season long.
Early on, this will be a battle between the two teams, who have a ton of bad blood between them, but Wisconsin will overcome it in the end.
They have so much depth outside of the Wahl-Hepburn duo. Iowa’s path to success is to get extremely hot from deep, but I would expect Wisconsin to realize this and defend the three-point line well.
The Pick: Wisconsin -7.5
Wake Forest (-1.5) at Boston College (O/U 150.5)
I am extremely high on Wake Forest in the ACC, but this feels like an extremely trappy spot for The Demon Deacons. They have won seven straight games and have a quick road trip right before returning home to take on the reigning National Champion runner-up Miami Hurricanes. It is safe to say Wake Forest will be looking ahead of Boston College.
Besides this being a look-ahead spot, Boston College has some scorers. They are a respectable 9-3 and have a great big man in Quinten Post to lean on. Truthfully, I can see him having a massive game in this one because Wake Forest’s biggest strengths are their guards. Look for The Eagles to be geared up for their ACC home opener.
