Underdog Fantasy College Football 12/27 Bowl Games Higher / Lower Picks
We’ve got a few picks from today’s slate to help you build a Pick’em entry at Underdog Fantasy. The name of the game is opt-outs, and we’ve got a few ideas as to how to play teams that have a full-depth chart entering the transfer portal.
Military Bowl presented by GoBowling.com: Virginia Tech vs. Tulane
Kyron Drones Higher 214.5 passing yards
Virginia Tech quarterback Kyron Drones has cleared 215 passing yards in each of his last three games and should clear the number against Tulane today.
Tulane has the 77th-ranked pass defense in the nation and averaged 236.3 passing yards allowed per game this year. The Green Wave will also be missing several key members of their defense who have either entered the transfer portal or declared for the NFL Draft.
Tulane will also be without head coach Willie Fritz. Interim head coach Slade Nagle will lead the team, but he’s slated to follow Fritz to Houston.
Tulane’s defensive coordinator, Shiel Wood, has already left for Houston. The Green Wave currently doesn’t have a DC listed on their coaching staff, but it’s likely that one of the position coaches will handle play-calling duties.
There will be gaps in the Tulane defensive personnel, and there may be gaps in the scheme. Look for Drones to find the soft spots in the Green Wave secondary. He should go higher on his passing yards total for your Underdog Fantasy College Football Pick’em entry.
Drones also has 0.5 listed as his higher / lower total for interceptions thrown. He’s only thrown three picks in 264 passing attempts this year. The lower total for INTs is also in play.
DIRECTV Holiday Bowl: Louisville vs. USC
Jack Plummer Higher 242.5 passing yards
Louisville quarterback Jack Plummer is playing in his final college football game today. He may go out with a bang against the ultra-soft USC pass defense. The USC defense has been a popular team to fade this year and is essentially a system play at this point.
The Trojans had the 110th-ranked pass defense in the country this year. They allowed an average of 255.2 passing yards per game. They also managed this before they were missing at least eight names from the depth chart.
Plummer cleared 242 passing yards in seven out of 13 starts this year and should find plenty of room to work with against the USC pass defense. Everyone else has this year. Look to go higher on Plummer’s passing yards total in your Underdog Fantasy College Football Pick’em entry.
Duke’s Mayo Bowl: West Virginia vs. North Carolina
Garrett Greene Higher 64.5 rushing yards
West Virginia Mountaineers quarterback Garrett Greene is returning to Morgantown next year, and he’ll be leading the team in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl.
Greene gets to start against a very depleted North Carolina Tar Heels roster. The Tar Heels will be without at least eight names on defense today. The Tar Heels own the 94th-ranked rush defense in the country and allowed 168.6 yards on the ground per game.
Greene cleared 64.5 rushing yards in five out of 10 starts this year. He also went over 100 yards rushing in each of his last two starts. Whether he’s tucking and running or gets his own number called, he should find space.
Go higher on Greene’s rushing yards total in your Underdog Fantasy College Football Pick’em entry. Also, his interceptions total is set at 0.5. Greene has only thrown four picks in 254 passing attempts this year.
