NFL Week 16: Underdog Fantasy Pick ‘Em -Defense
Alex Anzalone Higher Than 8.5 Tackles + Assists
Anzalone has been the do-it-all linebacker for the Detroit Lions. It’s always easy when you play Anzalone in fantasy to track his progress during the game with his golden locks flowing out of his helmet.
Anzalone constantly finds his way to the ball. Last week against the Denver Broncos it was 12 total tackles, in Week 12 against the Chicago Bears it was an amazing 15 combined tackles.
In four of the last five games for the Detroit Lions defense, Anzalone has gone over the 8.5 combined tackles mark. In 13 games played in 2023, Anazole hasn’t played less than 90% of the Lions snaps on defense in any given game.
The Vikings will be looking to get the ball out quickly this week, and Anzalone should be there to bring them down plenty.
Kyle Duggar Higher Than 5.5 Tackles + Assists
The New England Patriots’ hard-hitting safety has easily cruised past this number in the last two games recording seven combined tackles against the Kansas City Chiefs and the Pittsburgh Steelers. In Week 5 against the Dallas Cowboys, Duggar went crazy, racking up 15 combined tackles, 12 of which were solo.
The Patriots take on a Denver Broncos team that has won five of the last six games and is chasing a playoff berth. Russell Wilson has looked more like himself moving the ball down the field to Cartland Sutton.
Duggar and the back end of the Patriots’ defense should stay busy playing contain in this potentially snowy matchup in Denver.
CJ Mosley Lower Than 5.0 Solo Tackles
The linebacker for the New York Jets has only recorded more than five solo tackles once in the last six games in a blowout loss to the Miami Dolphins. The Jets are now eliminated from playoff contention, and Aaron Rodgers won’t be coming to save the day for this team in 2023.
With an over/under set at just 37 points, this will likely be a sloppy low-scoring game. While Mosley will still wrap up tackles, not reaching five solo tackles like he hasn’t recently is the goal.
Quay Walker Higher Than 8.0 Tackles + Assists
When this second-year linebacker for the Green Bay Packers gets going, he really gets going. In Week 2 against the Atlanta Falcons, Walker totaled 17 combined tackles. In Week 4 against the Detroit Lions, Walker assisted on nine tackles and also scored 10 solo tackles for a 19-tackle day.
Last week against Tampa, Walker checked in at just six combined tackles, but against the Chiefs in Week 13, Walker racked up 13 combined tackles. This week, as the Packers take on the struggling Carolina Panthers, the expectation is for Walker to be flying around and flying past this combined tackles number.
So excited to watch Quay Walker continue to grow in this #Packers defense.pic.twitter.com/VVAOGpCeOT

Azeez Al-Shaair Higher Than 9.5 Tackles + Assists
The fifth-year linebacker out of Florida Atlantic University has been a tackling machine this season. In nine of the Tennessee Titans’ 14 games, Al-Shaair has accounted for nine or more combined tackles.
Over the last three weeks against the Texas, Dolphins, and Colts, Azeez has averaged 11.5 combined tackles. The Seattle Seahawks should have Geno Smith back at quarterback, and with weapons like DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Kenneth Walker on the Seahawks side of the ball, it will keep Al-Shaair and the Titans’ defense busy.
