Syracuse is without its head coach and starting quarterback, and South Florida has to make a three-hour drive to get to Boca Raton. This looks like a fade spot for Syracuse. Let’s get into the picks.
Syracuse vs. South Florida
LeQuint Allen Lower 130.5 rushing yards
Syracuse will have redshirt Freshman Braden Davis starting at quarterback. This means that Braden Davis will spend most of the evening handing off to whoever is standing next to or behind him.
It’s predicted that sophomore LeQuint Allen will get most of the workload, and he might, but he probably won’t find much room to get loose.
South Florida’s run defense isn’t that bad. Their pass defense is one of the worst in the country, but they were able to come in 87th against the run.
However, the Bulls won’t have to worry about the passing game as much and can stack the line. Also, teams have shown a preference to spread carries around instead of letting one guy take the full load. Look for Syracuse to rotate at running back and limit Allen’s carries.

South Florida vs. Syracuse
Byrum Brown higher 242.5 passing yards
Redshirt Freshman quarterback Byrum Brown has balled out for the South Florida Bulls this year. Brown averages over 250 passing yards per game and has cleared 243 yards in seven out of 12 starts this year. He’s also been over 243 yards passing in each of his last four games.
The Syracuse Orange have the 95th-ranked pass defense in the country and have allowed 247.5 passing yards per game this year. Their pass defense is a bit leaky, and this is essentially a glorified Spring Game.
Look for Brown to go higher on passing yards, and consider stacking higher 1.5 passing touchdowns in your Underdog Fantasy College Football Pick’em entry.
South Florida vs. Syracuse
Sean Atkins lower 80.5 receiving yards
Sean Atkins is the top target for Byrum Brown, and he’s been force-fed a bit this year. The receptions total is probably spot on at 7.0, but the receiving yards total looks a bit heavy.
Atkins has only gone over 81 receiving yards in five out of 12 games this year. He may rack up a fair share of catches, but he doesn’t typically deliver chunk plays that would help him get over 81 receiving yards.
