Perfect 3-0 Pick Em Entries: 1-12 (-1.4 units)
Tyson Degenhart (Boise State) Higher Than 14.5 Points
Tyson Degenhart has been an absolute cash cow for this article series. I don’t see his role slowing down anytime soon, either. Degenhart has scored more than 14.5 points in five straight games and seven of the ten games he has played in so far this season.
Opponents of Washington State are scoring 25.4% of their points from the charity stripe. That’s the 11th most in the nation. Degenhart has sunk 77.6% of his free throws this season. He has gotten to the line 31 times during the five-game streak of scoring higher than 14.5 points.
Mackenzie Mgbako (Indiana) Lower Than 13.5 Points
Indiana has flirted with disaster a few times this season, but their resume still remains clean. In the preseason super phenom freshman Mackenzie Mgbako’s resume was clean no longer. Mgbako was arrested on two misdemeanor charges in a Taco Bell parking lot.
Whether that is the reason or not, Mgbako hasn’t had the greatest start to the season for the Hoosiers. Mgbako has scored less than 13.5 points in nine of Indiana’s 11 games. The two games in which he did score more than 13.5 points were the only two games in which he attempted 10 or more field goal attempts. The freshman can’t score if he doesn’t have consistent volume shooting.
Mike Mitchell (Minnesota) Higher Than 10.5 Points
This is a very nice spot for Minnesota and Mike Mitchell. Ball State has faced the 349th worst strength of schedule, yet their defense is 258th in KenPom’s defensive efficiency. The Golden Gophers have the 23rd-best effective field goal percentage on Ken Pomeroy’s website as well.
Mitchell’s minutes have increased lately due to Braedon Carrington stepping away from the team. He has scored more than 10.5 points in three straight games. The last game against IUPUI was Mitchell’s first start of the season because of Carrington’s mental health break. Expect another good Mike Mitchell game against a poor mid-major defense.
