NBA First FG Props – December 11
Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Orlando Magic
Tipoff – 7:00 pm EST
Amway Center – Orlando, Florida
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
Wendell Carter Jr. might be nearing his comeback, which means we’re running out of chances to fade the Magic. Goga Bitadze has won just one of the 17 tips that he’s taken this year. The Magic, who were a good team on the first bucket to start the season, have plummeted into the bottom five of the league. The Cavaliers are a bit better than the league average on the tip and a bit worse on the first buckets, but having a pulse usually gives you an advantage over the Magic until Carter Jr. is back.
These two played last week, and Donovan Mitchell grabbed the first bucket. However, shortly thereafter, it became the Max Strus show. He had nine of the team’s first 16 points in the game. He was lighting it up from outside. With Evan Mobley out of the game, they may lean to a more outside-heavy approach, and Strus could be the beneficiary.
First FG Bet for December 11: Max Strus (+650)
Utah Jazz vs. Oklahoma City Thunder
Tipoff – 8:00 pm EST
Paycom Center – Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
The Jazz currently rank 29th in the league in first buckets, with a paltry 27.3% success rate. The Thunder are cashing over half the time in that category at 52.4%. In addition, the Jazz are going to be short-handed in the frontcourt. Two of the guys who have taken their jumps in the past are going to be out on Monday. Walker Kessler and Lauri Markkanen are both going to be missing the contest. That should give Chet Holmgren an easy first possession.
Not only will it be easy for Chet Holmgren to grab the opening tip, but he should have an easy offensive day as well. Omer Yurtseven isn’t bad defensively, but he’s not getting tons of first-team reps, and Holmgren is a bit of a unicorn to defend. When you add in how many first buckets Holmgren has on the year – four of his team’s 11 – and you have to go chalk here.
First FG Bet for December 11: Chet Holmgren (+475)
Portland Trailblazers vs. Los Angeles Clippers
Tipoff – 10:30 pm EST
crypto.com Arena – Los Angeles, California
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
The Clippers are an auto-fade in these situations. They’re ranked 29th in tip percentage and 28th in getting the first bucket. They’re doing each of them just barely over a quarter of the time. Deandre Ayton might be questionable for the game on Monday, but even in his place, I think Duop Reath can grab an early possession. Even if he can’t, I like the Blazers’ chances of getting a stop.
I’m going back to the well with one of my favorite hits of the year. back on December 2nd, we hit Toumani Camara at +1400 to get the first bucket against the Jazz. He got it, which happened to be his third hit of the year. While he’s still not leading the team in shots by any stretch, they love going to him early. With Jerami Grant out hurt again, let’s see if lightning strikes again.
First FG Bet for December 11: Toumani Camara (+1000)
