NBA First FG Props – December 7
Indiana Pacers vs. Milwaukee Bucks
Tipoff – 5:00 pm EST
T-Mobile Arena – Las Vegas, Nevada
Broadcast – ESPN
Myles Turner is one of the five best jumpers in the league (counting those only with 15+ attempts). He’s nabbing 68.4% of all jumps, which is also good to make the Pacers the third best team in the league. Brook Lopez is a touch worse at 57.1%. And while the Bucks are above average on the tip, their affinity for the long ball has left them with a rough first basket percentage. They’re gotten just 42.9% of the first buckets, which puts them in the bottom third in the league in that category.
Don’t look now, but here comes Bruce Brown. The Pacers’ small forward led the team in points in their win over the Heat last week with 30, while taking a team high 16 shots. He didn’t look nearly as good in their quarterfinals win over the Celtics, but he did get off their first two shots from the field in that game. He doesn’t have a first bucket yet, but this trend makes me think he’s prime to get one.
First FG Bet for December 7: Bruce Brown (+1500)
New Orleans Pelicans vs. Los Angeles Lakers
Tipoff – 9:00 pm EST
T-Mobile Arena – Las Vegas, Nevada
Broadcast – TNT and TruTV
There’s very little difference in the numbers on the jump here for these two teams. The Lakers are 11-11 on the year and the Pelicans are 12-10. They have also both had their stalwart centers take all the jumpballs so far. The difference seems to be in the actual conversion of first field goals. Despite having their head above the water on the jump, the Pelicans have just a 40.9% first field goal average. The Lakers flirting with 60% is enough for me to lean to someone on their squad.
I feel like I’m beating a dead horse by continuously going back to the Anthomy Davis well. However, it really does seem like he needs to break out of this at some point. He has none of his team’s recent first buckets, but is constantly getting early looks. With Jonas Valanciunas playing below average defense this year, this should be the spot the Lakers’ big man breaks out.
First FG Bet for December 7: Anthony Davis (+420)
