Underdog Fantasy College Basketball Picks For December 5th
Underdog Pick Em Record (Est 12/1/2023)
All Pick Em Selections: 6-6
Perfect 3-0 Pick Em Entries: 0-4
Vlad Goldin (Florida Atlantic) Higher Than 13.5 Points
Florida Atlantic heads back to Madison Square Garden, where they beat both Tennessee and Kansas State in last year’s NCAA Tournament. Vladislav Goldin is the Owl’s Russian 7’1 centerpiece and poses plenty of problems for Illinois. Goldin has scored higher than 13.5 points in six of FAU’s first seven games this season.
This will be Illinois’ 5-man, Coleman Hawkins‘, second game back from his knee injury. Against Rutgers in the Illini’s most recent game, Hawkins didn’t look 100%. To begin with, Hawkins is an undersized center. Dain Dainja is the backup center, and he’s rough defensively. It’s a perfect recipe for America’s Team to thrive under the bright lights through their absolutely jacked big man.
Nimari Burnett (Michigan) Higher Than 16.5 PRA
This will be Michigan’s first home game in two and a half weeks, and it’s also the conference home opener against an Indiana team that hasn’t played a true road game yet this season. Hoosiers’ point guard Xavier Johnson is a game-time decision with a foot injury. In Indiana’s most recent game, Maryland’s backcourt outscored IU’s 37 to 15. Indiana Head Coach Mike Woodson literally only has three capable guards on this roster when Johnson is out, and even if he plays, he won’t be at 100% Tuesday night. Against 90% of high major competition, IU’s backcourt is not up to snuff.
Dug McDaniel was the initial guy that I wanted to target here, but his lines just seem a bit too inflated to me. So, now I am turning my head to 6’4 wing Nimari Burnett, who is shooting 40% from 3PT this season. Burnett also will probably draw Indiana’s worst defender per EvanMiya.com’s DBPR. The Alabama transfer is 5-3 against this projection so far this season and 3-1 against high majors.
Chucky Hepburn (Wisconsin) Lower Than 1.5 3-Pointers Made
Michigan State has one of the best defensive backcourts in the country. Three of their guards rank inside EvanMiya’s Top 66 nationally in DBPR. Also, the only time we saw Wisconsin hit the road was against Providence. The Badgers shot 38% from the floor and 25% from behind the arc against a team projected to finish in the middle of the pack in the Big East.
Wisconsin’s PG Chucky Hepburn was 0-3 that night in the building that was once known as “The Dunk.” Hepburn has drained two or more 3-balls in just two games all season. So the Lower than 1.5 3-pointers made is 6-2, and this Badgers team might be ineffective offensively on the road. The Spartans backcourt full of “SPARTAN DAWGS” may have found their next chew toy for Tuesday night.
