NBA First FG Props – December 6

Orlando Magic vs. Cleveland Cavaliers

Tipoff – 7:00 pm EST
Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse – Cleveland, Ohio
Broadcast – NBA League Pass

Wendell Carter Jr. now has his cast off, but is still not ready to play. That can only mean one thing – time to fade Orlando on the early game stats again. Goga Bitadze has done 15 straight jumps since Carter went down and he’s won exactly one jump ball. They’ve scored only three first buckets in that span as well. While the Cavaliers have sort of a pedestrian record in these two stats at 55% on the jump and 40% on the buckets – it should be plenty to get it here.

He may not have a first bucket this year to show for his efforts, but Darius Garland has been getting plenty of early action. He’s made one of their first two shots in two out of their last three games. He’s also getting plenty of action overall – he ranks second on the team in shot attempts per game. Although some worried that’d take a hit with Mitchell returning from injury, he still went for 22 points last game.

First FG Bet for December 6: Darius Garland (+550)

Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Houston Rockets

Tipoff – 8:00 pm EST
Toyota Center – Houston, Texas
Broadcast – NBA League Pass

The Thunder have been solid all year and in every capacity. They aren’t just looking nice in the standings, they’re also looking great on the tipoffs. Buoyed by the presence of Chet Holmgren, they have the second highest tip rate in the NBA at 68.4%. The Rockets, meanwhile, rank 20th in the category at 47.0%. The Rockets are even worse when it comes to the first bucket, with a 27th place ranking in the league.

Okay, so it might be a little chalky, but Chet Holmgren is always a solid play. He has one of their first three shots in five straight games including the first twice. He’s also scored 40% of the team’s first field goals on the year.

First FG Bet for December 6: Chet Holmgren (+500)

Denver Nuggets vs. Los Angeles Clippers

Tipoff – 10:00 pm EST
crypto.com Arena – Los Angeles, California
Broadcast – ESPN

The Clippers are also a must fade team against anyone competent in the early game action. Ivica Zubac has won just 21.1% of jump balls to start the game. Nikola Jokic is grabbing 52.4% so far – plenty to give the Nuggets the edge here. The Clippers are also one of the one teams ranked lower than the Rockets in getting that first shot to fall – ranked 29th overall.

There are some popular names to grab for the Nuggets and plenty of spread out action lately to analyze. The last four times they’ve scored first, they’ve seen four different names. Also, none of those names are Nikola Jokic, who already has five first buckets. Still, I’m going with a contrarian play on Wednesday night in Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. Caldwell-Pope has take one of the Nuggets first three shots in three of the last four games. He may not be seeing tons of success with his shooting percentage, but he’s had double digit attempts in three of his last four games as well.

First FG Bet for December 6: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (+1200)
