NBA First FG Props – November 30
Charlotte Hornets vs. Brooklyn Nets
Tipoff – 7:30 pm EST
Barclays Center – Brooklyn, New York
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
These two teams have very similar numbers when it comes to the tipoff. The Nets have a slight advantage with a 52.9% average compared to 50.0% for the Hornets. However, the real difference comes with the first bucket statistics. While the Nets are getting 41.1% of the first field goals, the low shooting percentages of the Hornets have left them with just 18.8%. With the worst first field goal rate in the league, you can’t take a Hornet here.
Four members of the Nets’ starting lineup have the first buckets of the game. Three of them have more than one. However, it’s that fifth member of the starting five that has taken the first two shots in each of the last two games. Cameron Johnson is getting a lot of the early looks, so let’s see if he can’t make good on some of those come Thursday.

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Oklahoma City Thunder
Tipoff – 8:00 pm EST
Paycom Center – Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

The numbers lean ever so slightly to the Thunder in this game. They have just over a 12% lead in tip percentage and just over a 6% lead in first bucket percentage. That 12% might be enough already to go with a member of the Thunder on Thursday – especially with teams winning the tip taking over 70% of the first buckets. If you need more enticement, let’s also add in that the Lakers are 0-3 on their last three tips, and those numbers are against people not even as strong as Chet Holmgren on the tip.
On the year, the Thunder have ten first buckets, and Chet Holmgren has four of them. That rate is pretty solid, and when you add in that he hasn’t had one in almost two weeks, it would seem like he’s due. Expect him to take the tip here and drain something early.

Los Angeles Clippers vs. Golden State Warriors
Tipoff – 10:00 pm EST
Chase Center – San Francisco, California
Broadcast – NBA TV
The Clippers have become my favorite auto-fade when it comes to early baskets. They’re worst in the league on the tip at 17.7%. They’re second to worst in the league in terms of first field goals – only behind the aforementioned Hornets. The Warriors are precisely league average in both at 50%, but that should be plenty to get them a score here.
It’s not the first time that I’ve called for it recently, but I’m leaning toward Andrew Wiggins here. The sheer number of early shots he gets for the Warriors is wild, considering he only has one first bucket. With a big number of odds and lots of action, it feels like the time might be now.
