NBA First FG Props – November 26
Portland Trail Blazers vs. Milwaukee Bucks
Tipoff – 3:30 pm EST
Fiserv Forum – Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
The team that wins the tipoff is scoring the first bucket in over 69% of all games on this year. As a result, seeing a 10% advantage on the tip to the Blazers might already be enough to lean to one of their players for first field goal. However, there is even more reason to like a Portland player on Sunday. The Bucks love a low percentage shot – particularly early in the game. That’s why despite tipping at 56.3% on the year, they only have 37.5% of the first buckets, which is 4th worst in the NBA.
The last Blazers game saw Jerami Grant nab the first bucket. It was just his first of the year. While he does have the most shot attempts of any starter, the next in line also is getting a ton of action early. Shaedon Sharpe actually took the second shot on Wednesday and sunk an easy shot. Let’s grab his number here.
First FG Bet for November 26: Shaedon Sharpe (+1000)
Miami Heat vs. New York Knicks
Tipoff – 6:00 pm EST
Madison Square Garden – New York, New York
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
Phoenix is the definition of league average when it comes to the early game stats. They are 50% on both the first bucket and the tipoffs. However, the Knicks just so happen to be one of the very best team on the early stats. They have a 73.3% tipoff average and a 80% first field goal percentage. Both of those are good for second in the league, which let’s us lean to a member of the Knicks here.
Jalen Brunson, RJ Barrett and Julius Randle all have 3+ first buckets on the year. Any of them seem like decent options. However, Brunson has led the team in points in each of the last four games. He has also been getting an abnormal amount of the early action in the last few games.
First FG Bet for November 26: Jalen Brunson (+550)
Toronto Raptors vs. Cleveland Cavaliers
Tipoff – 10:30 pm EST
Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse – Cleveland, Ohio
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
Maybe I’m leaning on the Raptors a bit too much, but their first bucket numbers are unheard of. In the 16 games they’ve played this season, they’ve scored the first field goal 15 times. That puts them 13.5% ahead of any other team in the league. The Cavaliers have scored first just 37.5% of the time. It’d be impossible to handicap this game and not take someone on the Raptors.
Everybody in the starting five for the Raptors have more than one first bucket. Jarrett Allen has been solid in the middle on defense, so I’ll lean to a guard. With OG Anunoby having the last one, I’m going to go with Dennis Schroder. He’s getting a load of shots and is shooting over 45% from the field.
First FG Bet for November 26: Dennis Schroder (+1000)
