NBA First FG Props – November 4
Atlanta Hawks vs. New Orleans Pelicans
Tipoff – 7:00 pm EST
Smoothie King Center – New Orleans, Louisiana
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
On Thursday, Jonas Valanciunas won the tip and the Pelicans picked up the first bucket of the game. It was the first time they had done either of those things in the five games they have played this year. The Hawks haven’t been stellar on the jump, but are slightly better at 2-3. They are doing well for their first field goals with four of the five games they’ve played so far.
If we’re leaning with the Hawks, there are really just three options. Dejounte Murray, Trae Young and De’Andre Hunter are the three guys taking early shots for Atlanta. Young has a couple of first buckets, but Murray is shooting just as much early in the game. He’s also shooting 21.1% better from the field than Young is.
First FG Bet for November 3: Dejounte Murray (+750)
Los Angeles Lakers vs. Orlando Magic
Tipoff – 7:00 pm EST
Amway Center – Orlando, Florida
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
You may see the early data on Anthony Davis and be all in on the Lakers. He’s 3-2 on the tipoffs and 3-2 on getting his team the first bucket. In addition, he also has personally scored two of those three first hoops. While that all might seem great, the Magic have far better figures. Wendell Carter Jr. is 4-1 on the tips and the Magic have scored first in every game. It’s hard to not go with a team that is perfect on the season.
In those five wins, one player has multiple of the first buckets. Jalen Suggs seems to be taking a larger part of the Magic’s scoring on this season. He’s firing up plenty of three-pointers, particularly early in the games. Apart from Franz Wagner, nobody in Orlando is shooting more. With his odds so large, it’s well worth the stab here.
First FG Bet for November 4: Jalen Suggs (+900)
Boston Celtics vs. Brooklyn Nets
Tipoff – 8:00 pm EST
Barclays Center – Brooklyn, New York
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
The Celtics are off to a hot start at 4-0. It’s not just the wins and losses that are coming though – the first bucket data all favors them as well. They’re 4-0 on the tip and they’re 4-0 on the first bucket. The Nets aren’t doing bad on those fronts – at 3-2 on both fronts, but you got to ride the hot hand here.
There are three people who have scored the first bucket for the Celtics on the year – all of them are outside shooters. Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, and Jrue Holiday all have scored the first field goal of a game this year. However, in 50% of the games they’ve played, a different player has taken that first shot. Kristaps Porzingis is getting the rock early and it’s time he burried one of them.
First FG Bet for November 4: Kristaps Porzingis (+450)
