Underdog Fantasy Daily Pick’Em Entry – October 18
Cristian Javier – Higher than 4.5 Strikeouts
I’m not sure why Cristian Javier’s K amount is so low, but I’ll gladly hammer the Higher than 4.5 strikeouts. Javier only needed five innings to punch out nine Minnesota Twins in his lone postseason appearance this season. That is part of a six out of seven start stretch where he’s struck out at least five batters. Plus, Texas struck out above league average during the regular season and whiffed 12 times in Game 2.
Yordan Alvarez – Higher than 9.0 Fantasy Points
Nine fantasy points is a higher-than-normal bar you see set on Underdog, but then again, Yordan Alvarez is coming off of a 33-point, two-home run performance in Game 2. But all-time great Max Scherzer is on the bump for the Rangers in Game 3, you say. Well, Alvarez just so happens to have a career slash of .571/.700/1.000 in 10 plate appearances facing ‘Mad’ Max.
Corey Seager – Higher than 8.5 Fantasy Points
Corey Seager has had a quiet American League Championship Series thus far, with only two singles and a run scored over the first two games. I think Game 3 will be his breakout performance, and he’ll start looking like he did through the Rangers’ first two playoff series. He hits Cristian Javier very well over his career – 20 plate appearances, .250/.250/.650 with two home runs.
