Underdog Fantasy Daily Pick’Em Entry – October 17
Trea Turner – Higher than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI
Turner is a projection I like both based on his recent performance and due to his head-to-head matchup. He turned in another 2-for-4 matchup during Game 1 of the series and now has multiple hits in three straight playoff games. That’s right on par with his usual performance against Tuesday’s starter Merrill Kelly. In 23 career plate appearances, he’s 9-for-21 (.429) with three walks and only three strikeouts.
Gabriel Moreno – Higher than 0.5 Singles
It may seem like a wild move to take a guy who only seems to be hitting playoff dingers to like his singles line. However, a couple of things play into this projection. The first is that he saw the ball pretty well in Game 1. While he wound up without a hit, he put the ball in play each time.
The other reason I like this projection is that apart from this postseason and a potent August, Moreno had been more of a singles guy. Over 71% of his hits in the last month have been singles. In a small sample size, he has two singles in three at-bats against Aaron Nola.
Geraldo Perdomo – Higher than 0.5 Hits + Runs + RBI
I’ll admit it: this play is almost entirely based on the fact that Perdomo has a home run in each of his last two games. I also like that Evan Longoria is doing a little better job getting on base and moving runners along. That should give Perdomo a better chance at a sacrifice fly or something of that nature.
