Underdog Fantasy Daily Pick’Em Entry – September 28

Jordan Montgomery – Higher than 17.5 Pitching Outs

The play is quite simple here. Montgomery has been rolling and has even been doing so against the Mariners. In each of his last three starts, he’s completed seven innings – well over what we’d need to clear this projection. He has allowed only one combined run in that stretch.

This, of course, includes his last start, which was against the Mariners, where he struck out six and only allowed five hits. Add in the extra incentive to possibly close out the division tonight, and I’ll expect Montgomery to go late.

David Peralta – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases

David Peralta hasn’t been the big, exciting, hot hitter for the Dodgers. In fact, he hasn’t been any of those things for them. While September has been his toughest month, he’s picked it up as of late. He has seven total bases over the last four games, which gets us to this projection. Additionally, 60% of his hits this month are doubles. Add the cool air of Coors Field to that equation.

To make matters even better for Peralta, he’ll face a familiar face in Chris Flexen on Thursday night. The two have squared off eight times in their career. In that span, he’s 5-for-7 with a walk, a double, and a homer. Clearly, he sees the ball well off of him.

Ivan Herrera – Lower than 0.5 Total Bases

The rookie catcher had a solid month when he was called up back in July – hitting .348 over seven games. That earned him the call-up in September, but he’s been more lackluster this time around. He has just one hit in 11 at-bats, and it’s not about to get better. He faces Corbin Burnes on Thursday night, who is getting his last tune-up for the post-season.
