Luis Castillo – Seattle – Lower than 7 Strikeouts
Seattle All-Star Luis Castillo averages 6.5 strikeouts per game this season, which is technically lower than seven strikeouts. Plus, he’s been under seven in his last two starts (two strikeouts and six strikeouts) and has been under it four out of his last six starts. His opponent, the Tamba Bay, strikeout around eight times per game, so I don’t think Castillo is getting seven of those in the innings he’s pitching. Lower it is.
Ryan Pepiot – Dodgers – Lower than 5.0 Strikeouts
Let’s stay on the road pitcher going under his strikeout projection train and do the same with the Dodgers’ Ryan Pepiot. Pepiot has only topped five strikeouts once (six strikeouts) in his three starts this season and only whiffed three in his last starts. He’ll be going up against Miami today, who strikeout the fifth-least in the major leagues this season. Lower it is, again.
Julio Rodriguez – Seattle – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases
Julio Rodriguez is just finishing up a 0-5 night as these words are being typed, so he’s due to go off again. He pretty much always tops 1.5 total bases in a game with ease – four out of the last five games heading into Wednesday, as a matter of fact. And Tampa Bay pitcher Zack Littell hasn’t exactly been looking like Cy Young over his last few starts.
